Following up J Hus' The 15th Day mixtape in 2015, Common Sense sees him refine his eclectic sound, drawn from Hip-hop, Grime, Reggae and Afrobeats for his debut album under Black Butter Records. Having spent some time in prison stunting his progress temporarily he has now come out to fulfil that promise. During the promotion for the album he has been outspoken about artists copying his style during his brief hiatus. However he is still the man of the moment, starting 2017 strong, landing hook features on major debut albums from both Nines and Stormzy. Now it is Hus’s turn to drop his debut, driven by heavy hitting singles “Friendly” and the more recent “Did You See”.

What I’m trying to do with my music is to make it more meaningful – I’m trying to put more messages into what I’m saying, I knew when I came out I wanted to make music that meant something, that lifted the spirit. I don’t want to just be the guy who makes wavy tunes for the club. I love that too, but I wanted a balance. I want to be the most diverse act, I want to be that all-round guy.
